BMW M4 Competition: The New BILSTEIN Tuning Car

The BMW M4 Competition is a high-performance sports car with an outstanding powertrain and impressive driving dynamics. Exactly the right basis for the new BILSTEIN tuning car! Together with selected partners, BILSTEIN have uncompromisingly optimized their BILSTEIN M4 in key areas to take its performance to a new level. The new BILSTEIN Tuning Car celebrated its premiere at the Essen Motorshow 2024.

The eye-catching livery is not just coincidentally reminiscent of the design of the BILSTEIN Racing Team's BMW M4 GT4: the new BILSTEIN BMW M4 is a tribute to our works team's successful season on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 2024. The road-legal coupé not only makes a good impression visually: the technology is also in no way inferior to the racing look.

With the BILSTEIN EVO R - the same suspension with which the BMW M4 GT4 was already fast on the racetrack - we are bringing state-of-the-art motorsport technology to the road. BILSTEIN's 10×10 Pro-Click adjustment controls rebound and bump settings separately and enables a damper setup with 100 adjustment options. And thanks to “street fit”, the racing suspension can be individually approved for street-legal use.

The BMW 5 Series (G60/G61) is renowned for its premium quality and driving comfort. Since its introduction, it has established itself as a leading model in the upper middle class. Accordingly, the requirements BMW set out for the new 5 Series generation were extremely demanding.

“The customer requirements were very extensive,” Andreas Rausch recalls of the specifications that BMW presented to BILSTEIN and other leading suspension manufacturers. “The criteria were primarily high comfort, low weight and easy tunability,” says the technical project manager of the BMW team at BILSTEIN. Comfort in particular has been an increasingly important criterion in automotive development for years: Vehicles should offer maximum comfort and drive particularly smoothly, which requires soft damper tuning. On the other hand, the shock absorbers must always ensure traction even during critical driving maneuvers. A requirement that demands greater damping forces. A classic conflict of objectives.

But of course there were other tuning measures that were used to optimise the performance of the BILSTEIN M4. Find out what these were and what role Imran Arshad, one of the founders of BILSTEIN partner Evolve Automotive from England, played in this video:
